Brazilian journalists can now register for CAR and data-driven webinar

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas will offer a webinar for Brazilian journalists called, “An Interview with Data: The Differences between CAR and Data-Driven Journalism.” This two-hour webinar will be offered in Portuguese and taught by Jose Roberto de Toledo.

The live, two-hour webinar will take place Aug. 20, 2012 at 9:00 AM (Austin time, 11AM Brasilia time).

Space is limited, and registration is taking place through this link. Registration will remain open until Sunday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. (Austin time, 8p.m. Brasilia time).

Those who attend the webinar will need to pay a $25 administrative fee.

The event will help journalists to understand the differences between CAR and data-driven journalism, learn the basic concepts of each, view examples, and know when to use each technique accordingly in news work.

Jose Roberto de Toledo has been a journalist since 1985. He coordinates Estadão Dados, a data-driven journalism unit at the newspaper O Estado de S.Paulo and the website Estadão.com, and writes a political column. He also works for RedeTV!, as a political commentator. Toledo was one of the founders of Abraji and is vice-president of the organization. He has given CAR training programs for more than 1,000 journalists in 7 countries over the last 10 years.
