During his time as a visiting scholar at Columbia University in New York, Brazilian journalist Ricardo Gandour looked into the “new journalistic environment,” which he said “is characterized by consolidation and fragmentation, two conceptually opposed phenomena that advance simultaneously.” In this study, he consults journalists, editors and experts in the field of digital media transformations, as well as existing literature on the topic, to paint a picture of the evolving landscape and impacts on the journalism industry.
